Job Summary

Responsible for creating demand for animal feeds by providing sound technical advice to farmers.

  • Minimum Qualification : Bachelor
  • Experience Level : Mid level
  • Experience Length : 3 years
  • 1. RESPONSIBILITIES.

    a) Carry out product demonstration to farmers and briefing them on the distinctive features, advantages, benefits, availability & price of our feeds.

    b) Ensuring that agreed sales targets are achieved and 100% payment collection is achieved as per company sales policy.

    c) Ensuring that all farmer complaints are captured, recorded and resolved in the shortest possible time and to completion

    d) Visiting farms and giving sound technical advice to farmers to ensure that they get an economical return from their livestock.

    e) Establishing and building lasting relationships with farmers, stockists and distributors to ensure products get to the end users as efficiently as possible.

    f) Advising and communicating company sales policies, discount structures and credit policies to the customers.

    g) Ensuring all stockists and distributors have proper documentation submitted to the company by use of the account opening forms and credit application forms.

    h) Assessing customer credit applications before submitting them to the credit control committee.

    i) Advising the management on changes within the animal feeds industry

    j) Developing and delivering training & presentations for farmers in seminars, workshops, farmer meetings and field days, to increase their knowledge of the company's products and proper animal husbandry techniques.

    k) Following up on farmers attending the farmer training, sessions and workshops thorough use of the farmer information & data collected on the attendance sheets and providing feedback to the sales manager.

    l) Develop and maintain an efficient distribution network to ensure the comprehensive availability of company products and services across the region to achieve or exceed the sales targets.

    m) Assist the Credit Controller in collection of bad debt, improvement of daily sales operations working with customers to ensure prompt payment.

    n) Providing feedback on customer business development, competitor activity and product performance to assist in the development of marketing plans.

    o) Ensuring provision of premium customer service and account management within credit control guidelines.

    p) Maintain and update reports of the products and customers uptake on daily basis.

    q) Prepare a sales plan and share with the sales manager by providing a daily sales report on sales plan, farmers visited, achievements and challenges.

    r) Any other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor.

    2. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS.

    a) Ability to achieve the set Sales and Collection Targets.

    b) Ability to Grow Regional Customer Base, Set Targets to individual customers and grow them accordingly.

    c) Ability to Study and report Market trends in terms of (i) Product quality (ii) Customer Service (iii) Products Pricing and any other Market information that would give the company a competitive advantage.

    d) Ability to Manage Regional Total Debt by (i) Constantly reducing historical debts & thorough follow up on Customers Commitments to settle their bills (ii).

    Ensuring that Customers are settling their current bills as stipulated in the Sales Policy (iii). Proper evaluation on Customers’ Credit worthiness

    e) Ability to generate Timely; Accurate and Informative reports.

    f) Ability to conduct a minimum of 2 field days or Farmers Training or Seminars annually.

    g) Ability to meet the Sales Target of 1.5 Tones for mineral licks.

    3. SPECIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

    a) Technical training in animal health and production.

    b) Good planner, with strong selling and, analytical skills,

    c) Team player, creative, problem solver especially in crisis situations,

    d) Good people management, interpersonal and communication skills,

    e) Excellent negotiation and presentation skills and commitment to achieving set goals.

    4. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    a) Have a Degree or diploma in animal production and health management from a recognized institution.

    b) 3 to 5 years’ experience working as a technical sales representative in a similar sector.
