Job Summary

We are small UK accounting firm setting up an office in Kenya to support our London based staff. This role will be one of the first positions in a new office in Nairobi and will be the managerial position in place before the UK directors start to expand the team.

It will involve managing the core bookkeeping activities of the business, while helping to train, support and employ more junior staff as the team grows.

  • Minimum Qualification : Bachelor
  • Experience Level : Management level
  • Experience Length : 5 years
  • Responsibilities

  • Day to day management of all bookkeeping clients
  • Implementation and maintenance of processes to collect supporting information and documentation from clients
  • Manage a Bookkeeping Team ensuring all work is delivered in line with specified work schedules
  • Assist to build, employ and care for a growing team
  • Requirements

  • Willingness to work with UK based accountants, with a view to learn accounting and indirect tax compliance within in the UK and European Union
  • In depth bookkeeping experience in all areas, including :
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Sales tax and VAT returns (UK experience is not mandatory but relevant. Indirect tax experience is mandatory)
  • Payroll journal processing
  • Balance reconcialtions
  • Ability to create a trial balance with limited direction or existing software applications
  • Experience setting up small to medium sized businesses on cloud accounting applications
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Relevant accounting or bookkeeping qualifications
  • Previous experience in an accounting firm will be an added advantage
