Job Summary

Communications Officers act as a liaison between the organization, the public, and the media to ensure that the brand remains top of mind.

  • Responsibilities

  • Work with CFK staff in both Kenya and the US to conceptualize and implement communications strategies and campaigns.
  • Lead the implementation of communication strategy including organizational brand positioning.
  • Develop, write and edit communications and marketing materials,including press releases, newsletters, blog posts and social mediacontent.
  • Promote communications and marketing materials through appropriate social media channels.
  • Ensure that all communications and marketing material aligns with CFK brand standards.
  • Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos.
  • Responsible for local branding, advertising, trade shows,organization events and assisting in the development of promotionalcollateral.
  • Manage the communication calendar to support partnership development efforts.
  • Develop escalation protocols for managing communication crises, should they arise.
  • Track analytics and create reports detailing successes and failures of communications campaigns.
  • Collaborate with appropriate program staff to gather, oversee, anddeliver program impact stories for multi-channel campaigns encompassingthought leadership, email campaigns, blog posts, and social mediastrategies.
  • Contribute to and execute local media outreach (press kit) materialsincluding press releases, pitch letters, case studies, featurearticles, and trend stories.
  • In collaboration with US staff, assist with the development of the annual report.
  • Write, copy edit and assist in the development of donor reports and grant proposals.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in communications or related digital management field.
  • Excellent writing, editing and oral intercultural communication skills in both Swahili and English.
  • Ability to turn content from channels into media worthy stories.
  • Knowledge of international community development, gender andethnicity issues, youth education, public health, and asset building aplus.
  • Working understanding of digital marketing tactics, strategy and execution.
  • Experience with event management and photography.
  • Experience using photo editing and desktop publishing softwareincluding Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator and / or open-source graphicdesign platforms.
  • Experience with website content development.
