inSupply Health, Ltd. an East African JSI affiliate, cultivates locally grown solutions and builds capacity to strengthen health systems and supply chains and to improve people’s access to quality, affordable health services and products in Africa.

inSupply’s team of African professionals co-design solutions with clients and communities, embedding HCD approaches in implementation models and deploying innovative methods for reaching youth, such as gaming platforms.

inSupply also empowers young professionals through internships and placements.

JSI and inSupply Health are recruiting a motivated young professional to join our team as the Youth Communications Officer.

The Youth Communications Officer will work closely with the Learning and Knowledge Management (KM) Lead and Youth Communications Consultant to implement HCD Exchange’s communication and KM vision and build and maintain a network with youth related to ASRH.

Connected to the reproductive health / ASRH space and a natural organizer, the ideal candidate will implement an effective communications and engagement strategy that ensures robust youth involvement and amplifies the visibility of HCD in ASRH work among youth, using an array of compelling communication channels and tactics.

The Youth Communications Officer will also assist in the coordination and facilitation of the Exchange’s Youth Leadership Hub, ensuring the voice of the youth is represented in all aspects of the Exchange.

This is a part-time position, with 50% level of effort.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide ongoing guidance on engagement opportunities to connect with youth and on messaging that best resonates with the target demographic.
  • Regularly brief the Exchange team to ensure they are aware of the latest youth SRH trends and needs.
  • Coordinate the Youth Leadership Hub, including responding to inquiries, managing listservs, regularly updating content, facilitating any online activities, reporting the engagement to the Exchange team, and ensuring the Hub accurately reflects a youth perspective.
  • Conduct outreach and maintain strong relationships with key influencers, existing youth organizations, and networks to encourage their participation in the Exchange.
  • Write, edit, and format online content and recruitment / education materials.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current student, recent university graduate, or early career professional. Studies or degree program focused on public health, international development, communications, public relations, or a related field a plus
  • Experience in advocacy / community organizing and engaging youth
  • Experience working in a range of communication channels that reach youth
  • Demonstrated ability to create communication products
  • An amiable networker with strong connections in the reproductive health / ASRH community in Kenya or across Africa
  • Strong understanding of the local landscape of youth organizations / boards
  • Passionate for advocating positive change for youth
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working on communication campaigns and outreach preferred
  • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili or other local languages
  • Ability to travel within Kenya and Africa up to 15% of the time
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
