Org. Setting and Reporting The United Nations Human Settlement Programme, UN-Habitat, is the agency for human settlements.
It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all.
This position is located primarily in the Climate Change Planning Unit (CCPU), Urban Planning and Design Branch.
Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Unit Leader, Climate Change Planning Unit (CCPU) of Urban Planning and Design Branch (UPDB), the Programme Management Assistant will perform the following duties : Responsibilities
monitors status of programme / project proposals and receipt of relevant documentation for review and approval.
identifies inconsistencies; distributes project documents to relevant parties upon approval.
g. recruitment and appointment of personnel, travel arrangements, training / study tours, authorization of payments, disbursement of funds, procurement of equipment and services, etc.
sets up and maintains files / records; organizes meetings, workshops; handles routine administrative tasks, such as maintaining attendance records, assessing telephone billing, etc.
Understanding of the functions and organization of the work unit and of the organizational structure and respective roles of related units.
Ability to work well with figures, undertake basic research and gather information from standard sources. Demonstrated ability to apply good judgment in the context of assignments given.

Must have passed the United nations Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT) or the Global General Service Test (GGST) or an equivalent locally administered test at offices away from Headquarters.
Knowledge of the UN common system is required. Good computer skills (Microsoft Office Windows Applications). Work Experience A minimum of three (5) years of working experience in administrative services, office management, or related area is required.
Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP is desirable.
Working experience in an international organization is highly desirable. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
For the post advertised, fluency in written and oral English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
