This role will require prior experience in successfully managing the product life cycle of mobile / tablet apps for audiences globally.
The role will need self-directed personal leadership and interaction / influence with teams across Worldreader to drive the development of its product portfolio.
The ideal candidate will be curious, have strong attention to detail, be motivated / energized by a fast-paced cross-disciplinary environment, comfortable thinking big while also diving deep, will have high judgment and comfort managing senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
The candidate should be comfortable in dealing with ambiguity, have strong business acumen as well as great relationship building skills.
This is a hands-on product management role with a good degree of influence in shaping the Worldreader’s Product Vision and Roadmap.
This position reports into the Director of Product.
Three to five years of experience in product management of mobile applications for the global south and global north audience;
UX / UI design experience will be beneficial
Bachelor or masters degree in product management or a relevant discipline
Experience in managing the end-to-end product lifecycle of at least one mobile application : if b2c, edTech, information consumption apps will be preferable
Experience implementing features and campaigns designed for acquisition, engagement and retention of users
Ability to analyze simple data sets to reveal patterns and trends that can be used to continuously improve applications
A thoughtful and eloquent communicator in English, both orally and in writing, adjusting to the audience and to different perspectives for both external use and detailed internal documentation
Able to use simple design tools and proficient in using prominent documentation & presentation software including MS Office and Google Docs / Slides
A clear and concise communicator who is comfortable describing complex processes in understandable terms
The role requires flexibility to work across time zones
Willing to travel 2 or 3 times a year into target markets.
Participate in developing the product strategy and vision
Research, define and track product requirements and related backend requirements; write product development briefs to outline requirements;
provide regular reviews against previously defined success criteria
Manage prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, performance, and operational support load
Record and manage product backlogs
Work closely with the Technology, Data and Operations teams to deliver the product to the market; ensure thorough testing of all releases to meet the desired quality level
Partner deeply with teams across its regions for user research and support product training, deployments leading to customer success
Partner closely with Communication & Product Marketing, Legal & Compliance, and Impact & Evaluation teams to ensure alignment and support for product contribution to strategic goals
Work closely with the project teams to deliver all in-app behaviour change campaigns; Support region-specific notifications;
Manage notification tools and explore new ways of getting more out of the platform including partner-facing functionality and expanding to out-of-app engagements
Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, impact, and technical goals
Work to constantly improve its product portfolio; Continually improve the customer experience throughout the entire customer journey
Support Advancement team on product showcases, proposal development that involve product components
Provide updates on progress to the wider organization to ensure a full understanding of the product portfolio, their features, and limitations
Ensure the upkeep of all documentation relating to the product portfolio.
